Schengen visa checklist for 2026 travel

A Schengen application gets rejected far more often for a messy file than for a weak profile — mismatched dates, an itinerary that doesn't match your hotel bookings, or insurance that falls short of the €30,000 minimum cover.

Start with your passport: it needs at least two blank pages and validity for three months beyond your planned exit date from the Schengen area. Renew first if you're close to the line.

Book refundable or cancellable flights and hotels for the visa file — you don't want to be locked into paid bookings before the visa is stamped. We can arrange dummy-safe bookings for this purpose.

Cover letters matter more than people expect. A short, factual note — purpose of travel, your ties back home, who's funding the trip — tends to move applications through faster than a longer, vaguer one.

Processing currently runs 10–15 working days in most consulates, but peak season (April to August) pushes that out. We recommend applying at least 6 weeks before departure.
