Planning a trip with three generations

Sky High Holidays Desk · 8 December 2025

Family travel planning

The single biggest mistake in multi-generation trips isn't the destination — it's pacing built for the youngest, fittest traveller in the group, which quietly exhausts everyone else by day three.

Build in a rest day for every two active days, and choose a home base with short transfers rather than a new hotel every night. Grandparents (and toddlers) both do better without daily packing and repacking.

Flight timing matters more than people plan for — a red-eye that's mildly annoying for adults can wreck the first two days for young kids or older travellers. We build itineraries around flight times you'd actually choose if cost weren't a factor.

Hotel category can legitimately differ by traveller within one trip — we've booked adjoining rooms at different tiers within the same property so budgets don't force everyone into the same room type.

Ask about accessibility specifically, not generally — 'walkable' means different things at a fort in Rajasthan versus a resort in Goa. We ask this on every three-generation booking now, because guessing wrong ruins a day.
